Donald L. Martens, 92, Grand Forks, died Monday, February 1, 2016, in 4000 Valley Square-Woodside Village, Grand Forks. Donald L. Martens, the son of Adolf and Mary (Feigel) Martens, was born at Parshall, North Dakota, on September 27. 1923. He was raised and attended school in Parshall. Donald Martens and Margaret Rakstad were united in marriage on June, 4, 1944, in Grand Forks. They lived in a number of cities including Parshall and Minot, ND; Rapid City, SD; and Seattle, WA; before returning to Grand Forks in 1983. Donald owned his own excavating business for a number of years and then worked for the Boeing Company as a housing maintenance supervisor for the missile defAense system until retirement. Donald’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing with family and friends. He was an avid woodworker who loved to make model log cabins with hand crafted “Lincoln Logs” and furniture. Donald is survived by his children, Daniel (Marianne), Henderson, NV, and their children, Donald (Randy), Anne (Bob) Devine, and Amme (Ben) Medvitz; James (Karen), Colorado Spring, CO, and their children, Jacob (Malinda), and Joshua (Lynee’); Cheryl (Allen) Fuchs, Grand Forks, ND, and their children, Christie (Gregory) Taylor, Curtis (Rachael), and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Sydney, William, Isabella, Catherine, Emilia, Joseph, Steven, Elaina, Jaden, Colten, Ashtyn, Allison, Ryan, Riley, and Avery; brothers, Willie (Mavis), Parshall, ND; Robbie, St. Thomas, ND; Fred (Bonnie), Great Falls, MT; sister-in-law Sharon Martens, Bemidji, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; a sister, Agnes; and brothers, Paul, Adolf, and Henry. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016, in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
