Joseph Sholtis, 71, Grand Forks, died Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at home in Grand Forks, ND. Joseph Sholtis was born April 21st, 1944 in Clairton, PA to James and Julia (McCloskey) Sholtis. He attended school in Clairton, PA. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa and Germany. In 1972, he married Kimiko Tomihira of Okinawa, Japan. After discharge from the U.S. Army, he lived in Okinawa, Japan & Pennsylvania. He worked various jobs, including as a semi driver until retirement, at which time he moved to Grand Forks, ND to be with his family. Joe loved reading and studying the Bible. His faith was very important to him and he enjoyed sharing it with others. He is survived by his siblings, Dorothy J. Lees, and Noreen Virgona; his son Larry (Londa) Sholtis of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Sophie and Zoey Sholtis, Zach, Chantel, and Brianna Hockert; and his son's mother, Kimiko Tomihira of Okinawa, Japan. Memorial services will be held at Living Word Family Church in Grand Forks, ND on Monday, February 15th at 7 pm.
