Aneta Louise Grassel

Aneta L. Grassel, 77, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her home in Grand Forks.? Aneta was born August 30, 1938, the daughter of Mose & Lillian (Lane) Gregoire in Grand Forks, ND. She grew up on the farm near Merrifield and attended Ellendale 61 grade school and graduated from Thompson High School. Aneta married Jimmy Grassel on Nov. 26, 1960 in Grand Forks where they made their home raising 4 children. At 18 years old she worked at Cooper’s Studio in downtown Grand Forks, developing film and proofing.  She really enjoyed that job and sometimes would mention how it was dark and scary in the basement with the cockroaches!  She also worked at the Grand Forks Country Club with her husband Jimmy. She enjoyed the company of her 4 cats, scrapbooking, photography, birdwatching, cooking, cross stitching, card games, Starbucks Mochas, working in the yard, trips to Fargo Fleet Farm.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Aneta is survived by her children, Julie Grassel of Grand Forks, Fr. Martin “Randy” Grassel of Mt. Angel Abbey, OR, Sandy (Jeff) Grassel-Mack of rural Buxton, and Jody Grassel of Rochester, MN; siblings, Beverly Cariveau of East Grand Forks, MN, Yvonne Tack of Palm Desert, CA, Larry Gregoire of  Georgetown, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy; brother, Dale Gregoire; and special uncle, Myron Lane. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service. Interment: (Spring 2016) at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Grand Forks.
