John Sobolik

John Charles Sobolik, 56, Portland, Oregon, formerly of Pisek, died Friday, March 4, 2016 in Fridley, MN. John was born April 16, 1959 in Park River, the son of Frank and Charlotte Marian (Henry) Sobolik. He attended school in Pisek, graduating from Pisek high school in 1977. He then went on to study Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota, then graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology from NDSU. John lived in Phoenix, AZ then moved to Chicopee, MA, and Saranac Lake, NY, before moving to Portland, OR.  He loved to travel. He has travelled to all 7 continents. John was a philanthropist, giving whenever he could to help those in need. He also loved spending time with his family, making it a point to attend all the family events. John is survived by his siblings: Frank Sobolik, Broomfield, CO; Marianne (John) Kolar, Houston, TX; Marjorie Sobolik, Grand Forks; Richard Sobolik, Houston, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Donald and James.Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service in the church. Burial will take place in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Conway, ND.
