Donna Walstad, 77, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Altru Hospital. Donna Mae Flaten was born December 12, 1938 to Olaf & Inga (Holm) Flaten in Viking Township, ND, the youngest of 13 children. She attended school in Portland, ND. On May 10, 1963, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Walstad at Warwick Lutheran Church, Warwick, ND. They made their home in Harvey, ND until 1970, when they moved to Grand Forks. Donna was a devoted wife and mother who lived a life of service, volunteering countless hours at various organizations over the past 45 years, including the VFW, DAV, and American Legion Auxiliaries, Altru Hospital, Altru Gift Shop, and the March of Dimes. She will be remembered for her compassion, her sunny personality, her tenacity and her love of angels. Donna is survived by her son, Kriss (Jerrilyn) Walstad of E. Grand Forks, MN, daughter, Deanne Erie of Mandan, ND, stepson, Larry “Lynn” (Lori) Walstad of Grand Forks, ND, grandchildren, Tyler Walstad, Erica Walstad and Alicia Walstad, step grandchildren, Alexie and Kaity Randall, brothers, Olaf Flaten of Mayville, ND and James Flaten of Portland, ND, sister, Inez Hanson of Mayville, ND, and longtime companion, Thelmer Kvasager of Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence, infant son, Kevin, grandson, Trevor Erie, and her siblings, Florence, Ruth, Cliff, Art, Marion, Claudine, Ione, Glenn and Mardell. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church.INURNMENT: Later 2016, Memorial Park South, Grand Forks, ND.
