Gloria S. Rystad , 82, passed away peacefully in her home with family at her side on March 11th, 2016. Gloria was born April 4, 1933, the daughter of Sigurd and Gladys (Keil) Vikesland in Fergus Falls, MN. She graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks. Shortly later she met Robert Rystad and they were married on August 17th, 1952. They spent 63 wonderful years together, 13 were in Bloomington MN where she was a homemaker and active cub scouts and PTA. In 1975 they moved to Grand Forks and partnered with Bill Cox and her sister Dolores as owners of The Uptown Recreation Center. Bob managed the bar and bowling alley and Gloria ran Gloria's Antiques and Collectibles. She enjoyed and excelled at furniture refinishing, crocheting, sewing, cooking and quilting. They were active league bowlers for nearly 30 years, up until the Uptown closed due to the flood. They spent summers at their second home on Golden Lake. It was a labor of love, built from the ground up. Gloria is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Randi; daughters, Tami (Mike Moran), Tonja (Adam Kemp); brother, Al Fowler; sister, Jeanne Yager; grandchildren, Tara, Amanda, Sam, Tori, Shelby and Hanna; great-grandson, Rylan and several beloved nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Rick; sisters, Dolores, Carol; brother, Ron and nephew, Jay Cox. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00p.m. prior to the memorial service.
