M.O. Dahl

February 8, 1927 — March 14, 2016

Marvin "M.O." Dahl, 89, passed away on March 14, 2016, at Elim Care Center in Fargo, ND. He was born and grew up in Grand Forks.  He attended Lincoln High in Tacoma, WA, and the University of North Dakota. M.O. served 4 yrs. in the US Army, and worked as a conductor for Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads for 42 yrs.  His hobbies included photography, stamp and coin collections, camping, especially at Glacier National Park, children and grandchildren’s activities and sports events.  Marvin was a member of the Eagles, Elks and VFW in Grand Forks.  He enjoyed attending as many UND sports events as possible for many years.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley; three children, Cindy (Andy) McLean, Fargo, ND, Susan (Dana) Hanson, Bothell, WA, and Mark (Vickie) Dahl, Redmond, WA; along with seven grandchildren, Ben McLean, Rachel McLean, Jake McLean, Danielle (Sean) Gallacher, Sara (Matt) Garrett, Amanda Dahl, Caitlin Dahl; and one great grandson, Ryder Garrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leif and Margaret Dahl; and two infant brothers. Memorials in his name may be sent to:  Northern Lights Railroad Museum, P.O.
