Matilda Well

  Matilda D. Well, 82, Grand Forks, ND died Monday, March 21, 2016 at her home.   Matilda Dollie Phelps was born February 26, 1934 in Bowesmont, ND, the youngest daughter of Charles and Dollie (McMartin) Phelps. In June of 1955, Matilda married Gerald Dauksavage at Oslo, MN. They resided on the family farm north of Oslo. In 1956 they briefly moved to Santa Monica, CA, where Matilda worked for a cosmetic company. Upon returning to Oslo, MN, She worked for Earl Mullinger during harvest driving truck. In 1970, Matilda moved to Grand Forks, She worked for Greenberg Farms. While working for Greenberg Farms she met her husband, Glenn Well. They married August 30, 1974 in Grand Forks. They enjoyed 20 years together before Glenn died October 28, 1994. Among her many talents she did upholstery in her home, and also played in a band, The Pic-a-dors. Matilda played the accordion, sang and yodeled, Ron Shereck on drums and Gertrude "Pat" Smude played guitar. Later, the band was called Northern Galaxy. Matilda worked at Hugo's grocery store, for the Grand Forks Public Schools, and for Simplot until she retired in 2003. After retirement she worked for the Arc Upper Valley in gaming. Matilda was multi-talented, and had varied interests. She enjoyed music, gardening, crafts, cribbage, reading about history and true-life stories, bingo and the occasional trip to the casino. Survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Dauksavage, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Anton "TJ" (Jamie) Dauksavage, Crookston, MN; and Aaron Dauksavage, Grand Forks, ND; great grandchildren, Jackson Dauksavage and David Dauksavage; many nieces and nephews; her cat Lulu. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances and Isabelle; her brothers Donald, Bert, and George; nephews, David and Charles; niece Marie.   Funeral Services will be 11 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
