Corinne "Queenie" Alphson

November 4, 1926 — April 18, 2016

Corinne Arlette Johnson Alphson, 89, of Little Rock, AR and formerly of Grand Forks, N.D. died peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, AR. Corinne was affectionately called “Queenie” by her friends and family.Corinne was born November 4, 1926 in Grand Forks, N.D. the daughter of George and Blanche (Shideler) Johnson. Corinne’s childhood was spent on her family farm in Forest River, ND.  She graduated from the University North Dakota in 1948 with a B.S. in Dietetics, and was affiliated with the Delta Gamma sorority. On August 8, 1948, Corinne married Robert A. Alphson  at the Methodist Church in Forest River, N.D. With the exception of two years in Bismarck while Robert served his appointment as assistant attorney general, the couple remained in their hometown of Grand Forks, ND. Robert practiced law until his retirement.  After the 1997 flood of the Red River took their home, they retired to Longboat Key, FL., and their lake house in Bemidji, M.N. in the summer months. Corinne was a member of United Lutheran Church while in Grand Forks, and taught Sunday school for years, served as United Women President and served on the Church Board. She was President in P.E.O., served on United Hospital board and several years on the Grand Forks Symphony board. She was active in Delta Gamma Alumnae and served as president. Corinne served three terms as member of the North Dakota Museum of Art board.  She attended Bible Study Fellowship in Fargo, ND several years, and was a B.S.F. leader in Sarasota, FL.  Corinne’s hobbies were bridge, tennis, reading, and most of all travel. Her family remembers her loving to cook and entertain friends and family, cooking for those that were sick, and always prepared if someone stopped by for a visit. Corinne is survived by son Mark (Colleen) Alphson, Forest River, ND; daughter Lynn (George) O’Connor, Little Rock, AR, four grandchildren: Lisa (Steven) Schuster, Kristin (Ryan) Kasowski, Ryan (Amy) O’Connor, and Kelly O’Connor. Two great grandchildren: Louisa and Georgia O’Connor and Sister:  Mayfield (William D.C.) Blair. Corinne was preceded in death in 2002 by her beloved husband Robert A. Alphson, and her mother, Blanche Schideler Johnson, and father George Poole Johnson.      Memorial service will be at 10:30 am, Thursday April 21, 2016 at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks, ND.  Interment will be in Forest River, ND.   Memorials can be made to: Robert A.
