Jerry B Smith

Gerald Louis Smith (Jerry Smith) was born on July 20, 1955 in Grand Forks, ND to Joe Smith and Bella Rose (LaFontaine) Smith.  Jerry grew up and attended school in Grand Forks, ND.  He was once married to Beverly Krese. Together they had four children: Allan John Krese, Paul F. Smith of Grand Forks, ND, Lisa Smith (Deceased), and Amanda (Gilbert) Cordova of Grand Forks, ND. Jerry met Diane Smith and they have been together since 1980, and were married on September 4, 1986. Jerry raised his wife Diane's children: Robert Smith, Rhonda (Smith) Cowdery of Grand Forks, ND, Raymond (Kim) Sorteberg of Bismarck, ND, Rusty (Debbie) Sorteberg of Grand Forks, ND, and James (Jessica) Sorteberg of Grand Forks, ND. Jerry held various jobs throughout the Grand Forks area. He loved to visit with family and friends and listening to good tunes. Jerry was always telling jokes and stories he could make anyone laugh for days. Jerry enjoyed going to concerts with his late daughter, Lisa Smith. He also enjoyed a night on the town trying his luck at the casinos or dancing the night away with his wife Diane. In the summer, Jerry loved to go fishing at his favorite spot on the Red River.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Allan John Krese, Paul Smith, Amanda Cordova, Robert Smith, Rhonda Cowdery, Raymond Sorteberg, Rusty Sorteberg, and James Sorteberg. Many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He preceded in death by his parents, Joe Smith and Bella Rose (LaFontaine) Smith; his older sister, Marlys Jeanette Schneider (Smith); and his daughter, Lisa Marie Smith.Funeral Services:  2:00 p.m. Monday in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service.
