Gerald Lee Voiss

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Voiss, 77, of Grand Forks, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Jerry was born August 24, 1938, to Peter & Elsie (Styrlund) Voiss in Grand Forks.  He was the youngest of 12 children and graduated from GF Central High School and went on to complete C.T.I. He entered the US Air Force in 1956, serving 3 years prior to his discharge.  Jerry married Donna Lickteig July 23, 1960.  They raised 4 children. He owned and operated Voiss Construction in Grand Forks for 49 years.  Each one of his children worked for the family at some point, with his son, Brad being his partner and co-owner. He enjoyed gardening, puzzles, coffee time, Nascar racing and UND Hockey. Jerry is survived by his wife of 55+ years, Donna; daughters, Shelly (Davis) Hamilton; Cheri (Karl) Randel, Robert Voiss and Brad Voiss; brother, Kenneth (Vivian) Voiss; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; special daughter (DOG) Gaby and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irma, Marge, Jeanne, Doris and Ethelyn; brothers, Alan, Adrian, Darrell, Donald and Lyle. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Hope Covenant Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Wednesday, May 4, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND 58201.  Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service at the church.
