Clarence Myhre was born September 4, 1916 at Edmore, ND, the son of Carl and Anna (Kittelson) Myhre. Clarence’s mother passed away when he was only 2 years old. Because of this, he was raised by Halvor and Ingaborg Moe. Clarence eventually took Moe as his last name. He attended Shepherd County School near Edmore and was confirmed at Vang Lutheran Church. He served in the South Pacific until his discharge in December of 1945. Clarence Moe and Bernice Jore were married November 5, 1947 in East Grand Forks, MN. Clarence worked for 10 years with the Great Northern Railways. He was a hard worker and for most of his life, he held two jobs. He was as a carpenter with Civil Service for 25 years. At the same time, he worked for The Hub Bar, a job he continued into his early 90’s. Clarence loved family history and discovered his ancestors were from Vestfold, Norway, a powerful kingdom rich with early Viking activity and settlement. Clarence also loved going to his children’s sporting events. He was an excellent athlete himself, and had played amateur baseball with the Famous Farmers baseball team of Lawton, ND. More recently, he was a neighborhood hero, willing to help any neighbor in need. Survivors include his wife, Bernice; sons, Clair Moe and Bradley (Vicki) Moe, both of Grand Forks; 4 grandchildren, Alex Moe, Nick Moe, Ryan Moe and Tanya Knutson; 4 Great Grandchildren, Kaylen Knutson, Jake Knutson, Allison Knutson and Madilyn Moe. Clarence was preceded in death by his daughter, Rae Ann Moe; sisters, Myrtle Barstad and Violet Reed; brothers, Melvin Myhre, Albert Lee, and Clifford Myhre; and by his foster family members, Christine, Carrie and Inga. Clarence’s Moto was, “There are better days ahead”. For you Clarence, we know there are. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 6, 2016 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
