Darlyne L. Hariman

April 11, 1924 — April 8, 2016

Darlyne Lee (Hamilton) Hariman was the daughter of Robert E. and Edna B. (Cooper) Hamilton.  She was born  April 11, 1924 in Nelson County, North Dakota and attended schools in the Dahlen area.  She attended Minot State University and graduated from the University of North Dakota  in 1947.   She married Donald G. Hariman in 1947 and worked in retail and taught for a time at the Gregg College in Chicago while Dr. Hariman completed his education.  They returned to Grand Forks and Darlyne was involved in duties for her sorority, Delta Zeta.  As her family grew, she was involved in the PTA, President of the local chapter of the Red Cross, and President and board member of the YWCA through many tumultuous years, including acting as an interim executive director.   Darlyne was also active in the Presbyterian Church she served as an elder and was Moderator of Red River Presbytery. She also served on the Synod Council of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies of the larger Presbyterian Church.   She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Dallas, sisters Phosa, Muriel, and Daphne (Philip) Goheen.  She is survived by her husband and children Robert (Jane Rankin), Ann (Joseph) Vollaro, and Jean Hariman (Larry Schanzenbach), seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.   She was beloved by all and was always the epitome of grace and beauty.Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the First Presbyterian Church of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Inurnment will be in the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium.
