  Dorothy T. Hulteng, 85, East Grand Forks, MN, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare, Grand Forks. Dorothy Tweet was born April 29, 1931 in Aberdeen, SD, the daughter of Arthur and Alma (Hofto) Tweet.  She grew up in Grand Forks, ND, and graduated from Central High School.  She then earned a BA degree from the University of North Dakota and a business degree from Radcliffe College in  Cambridge, Massachusetts.   Dorothy married Donald Hulteng on November 21, 1954 in Grand Forks.  They lived in Golden Valley where they raised their children. Dorothy and Donald moved to Donald’s family farm north of East Grand Forks 1978.  Dorothy had a passion for writing poetry and family history.  Among her many accomplishments, she wrote the column, “From the Farm House”, for the East Grand Forks Exponent Newspaper. She also wrote articles for local John Deere publications, and 30 years for the Bethany Lutheran Church newsletter, “The Beacon”. Dorothy was also a member of PEO, played in a Bridge Club, was a member of various auxiliaries and book clubs, and was a board member of the Humane Society.  Dorothy is survived by her children, William Hulteng, Gaithersburg, MD, Jane Mattheis, Georgetown, MN, Elizabeth Hulteng, Eden Prairie, MN; daughter-in-law, Susan Larson, East Grand Forks, MN; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and her brother, Dr. Arthur Tweet, Rochester, NY., and his wife, Thea Tweet. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1997, and by a son, Arthur Hulteng in 2002.   Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church of East Grand Forks, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 Pm to 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in South Bethany Cemetery.
