Shirley M. Moreland

Shirley M. Moreland, 88, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Shirley Mae Nelson, the daughter of Elmer and Gladys (Reams) Nelson was born in Lisbon, North Dakota on November 24, 1927.  She attended school in Lisbon and graduated from Lisbon High School.  She later attended Wahpeton State School of Science. Shirley’s first job was at Sweeney’s Tractor Company in Fargo where she met Elwin, the love of her life.   Shirley and Elwin D. Moreland were united in marriage on December 22, 1951 in Fargo, North Dakota.  They lived in Moorhead, MN, and Inkster, ND, prior to moving to Grand Forks in 1955 where they made their home and were blessed with 7 children.   Shirley was employed for 20 years in Grand Forks by Alden Braseth Plumbing and Heating.  Shirley is survived by: daughters, Marlys (Rodger) Anderson, Ellen (Chris) Schulz, Rebecca Moreland, Pamela Kvasager;  sons, Marlin (Rita) Moreland, Kenneth (Pam) Moreland, Dallas (Linda) Moreland; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Beverly Nelson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwin;  parents;  a brother, Duane Nelson;  a sister, Maxine Langerude;  brother-in-law, Burton.  Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St., Grand Forks.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Monday, May 23 and one hour prior to the service all in the church.  Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.  Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks is in charge of arrangements.
