Gayle Louise Olson, Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, June 4, at her home. Gayle was born on September 29, 1934 to Lawrence and Ruth (Poling) Clemetson in Williston, ND. She was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Grenora, ND. She later attended and graduated from Grenora High School. Gayle graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN in 1957. She used her B.A. degree in Education to teach high school in Greenbush, Minnesota for three years. Gayle married Gaylord A. Olson on July 30, 1960 in Grenora, ND. After making their home on a rural Buxton, ND farm, she left full-time teaching to raise a growing family. In caring for her farm, five children, and eight grandchildren, Gayle ingrained humor, determination, and a love of life. Her bright, magnetic personality drew friends and strangers alike to her warm smile. Gayle shared her passion for teaching and music with decades of service as a Sunday school teacher and organist at Grue Lutheran Church. In 2005, Gayle and Gaylord moved to Grand Forks, ND where they developed a new community of friends. Gayle enjoyed visiting with neighbors and cherished her time with them. Gayle is survived by her children Frayne (Jill) Olson, Fargo, Diana Olson, St. Paul, MN, Kyle (Bobbi) Olson, Buxton, Janel Olson, Eden Prairie, MN, and Andrea (Cris) Breidenbach, Jamestown, grandchildren Erin Olson, Benjamin Olson, and Nathan Olson all of Fargo, Jase Olson and Koy Olson of Buxton, Alexandra Wahl of Eden Prairie, and Andrew Breidenbach and Julia Breidenbach of Jamestown, siblings David Clemetson and Nancy Axvig, and seven nieces and nephews. Gayle was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12th, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with prayer service beginning at 6:30 at Amundson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, June 13th, at 2:30 pm, with visitation one hour prior at Havig-Heen Auditorium Chapel, Valley Memorial Homes, 4000 24th Ave S., Grand Forks, ND.
