Eileen Metzler

Eileen L. Metzler, 70, Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, July 2, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.  Eileen Lena Kjos was born on January 8th, 1946 in Langdon, ND, the daughter of Lance and Dorothy (Rouse) Kjos. She grew up in Loma, ND and graduated from Alsen High School.  She graduated from Josef’s Hair Academy in 1965. Eileen married Curtis Metzler on May 3, 1968.  She worked at Bergman’s Hair Salon and then at the bank prior to starting her family. Eileen moved to Grand Forks in 1978 and continued to work as a beautician, as well as working numerous sales jobs so she could be home with her children.  She also dedicated her time to helping others in need.  In the late 80’s, she started working at Crystal Sugar and worked in the Quality Lab for over 20 years. Survivors include her children:  Jody (Chris) Gertson, Reeds Spring, MO; Gina Metzler, Langdon, ND; Kristi Schill, Grand Forks, ND; and Steven (Andrea) Metzler, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Paulette Schill, Hannah and Joel Gertson, Lance and Sara Schill, and Andrew Metzler; her mother Dorothy Kjos, Langdon, ND; brothers and sisters: Marlys (Ron) Loewen, Aurora, CO; Gayle (Gene) Smith, West Fargo, ND; James (Connie) Kjos, Langdon, ND; Debbie (Bob) Ramsey, Andover, MN; Jay (Janell) Kjos, Fargo, ND; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.Eileen was preceded in death by her father Lance and her brother Marvin. Visitation will be at 9 am, followed by the memorial service at 10 am, Wednesday, July 6, at Valley Christian Center, 3920 Cherry St., Grand Forks, ND.  Graveside services will be held at Loma Cemetery, Loma, ND, at 3 pm.
