Wayne Anderson

Arman "Wayne" Anderson, 76, of Grand Forks, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Wayne was born December 8, 1939 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Thelmer & Berget (Knutson) Anderson.  He started working in the field at 9 yrs old.  He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from GF Central High in 1957. He entered the US Air Force in 1962.  He did his basic training in Lockland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, and was honorably discharged in 1964 from the Ellsworth Airforce Base in SD, as a Jet Engine Mechanic. Wayne married Sandra Bjelverud February 24, 1962.  Together they raised a daughter, Brooky.  Once he was discharged from the military he bought a gravel truck and then later a long haul semi-tractor trailer called the “Miss Brooky”. He started Wayne’s Brokerage in 1970 and Karriers Inc in 1981, and was involved in the transportation industry. Wayne was always involved with racing.  He was the owner of a winning sprint car team and a founding member of the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA). He was the President of the River Cities Speedway since 1999.  He is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Brooky; sister, June Seng, Marilyn (Cliff) Coss; brother-in-law, Truman Vigen and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell Anderson; sister, Elaine Vigen and brother-in-law, Patrick Seng. FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, MN. VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 7pm prayer service on Tuesday at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service.
