Grace M. Bakke, 79, Portland, North Dakota, died Friday, July 29, 2016 in Sanford Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. Grace Marie Clark was born to James Henry Clark, Jr. and Lois Marie (Margerum) Clark on December 26, 1936 at Leyden, North Dakota. Grace graduated from Walhalla High School in 1955 and then attended Mayville State Teachers College. She married Norman Bakke of Portland, North Dakota on November 21, 1956. They lived in many towns in North Dakota, where she was a school teacher, and her husband, Norman was Superintendent of Schools. She loved spending time with her family and giving goodies to her grandchildren. Granny Goose enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking pies and monster cookies, bird watching, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, family and hospitality. She was a 4H leader for many years. Grace is survived by her husband, Norman, Portland, ND; children, Larry Bakke, Williston, ND, Joan (David) Ice, Isle, MN, Paula (Orlyn) Meyer, Detroit Lakes, MN, David (Lisa) Bakke, Langdon, ND; six grandchildren, Linsey (Jeff) Moe, Kalon Meyer, Kelly Meyer, Brianna, Brooke, and Erika Bakke; two great-grandchildren, Gracelynn and Griffin Moe; a sister, Mary Ridley and a brother, Harvey Clark, both of Walhalla, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lois Clark; twin brother Richard, and brothers, Lewis and Kenneth. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
