Don Loscheider

December 17, 1939 — July 30, 2016

Don Loscheider, age 76, of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2016. Don was born on December 17, 1939 in Killdeer, ND to Joe and Lena (Mittlestedt) Loscheider. He grew up  and attended school in Killdeer, ND. Following high school, Don joined the United States Army, where he served 2 years in Fort Benning, GA and Bamberg, Germany. Upon leaving the army, Don met the love of his life, Judy Mjolhus. They were married June 12, 1964 and had 2 children; Lori and Scott.Don began his career at Virgil’s Auto Body in Killdeer, ND. He started Modern Auto Body in 1971 with his partner, Leonard Kouba. In 1984, he became sole owner until his retirement in 2002. Don enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, water skiing, being part of the Grand Forks Lions Club, and working on projects. Don was exceptional at working with his hands; everything he did was meticulous, and he loved doing projects for his family, thanks to his kind and generous heart. Don’s wife, Judy, passed away from cancer on May 23, 1991. Don has said since that day that “If I had to do it all over, I’d marry her again”.Don met Margaret Mickelson, another wonderful woman and partner, with a beautiful heart. They were life partners until her passing on November 24, 2007. Her family became a part of Don’s family.For the last 7 years, Don has been with his special friend, life partner and caregiver, Patti Wold.Don is survived by his daughter Lori Jensen and her children, Haley and Austin of Salt Lake City, UT;Scott (Jane) Loscheider and their 3 children; Gavin, Aidan, and Katie, all of Grand Forks; special partner, Patti Wold; sister Dorothy Krogen of Bismarck, ND; Brothers Gerald of Ronan, MT; Darrel (Beverly) of Fountain, CO; Eddie (Karen) of Napa, CA; Brothers-in-law Andy Piatz and Joe Franchuk;and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; special friend, Margaret Mickelson; Father, Joe; Mother, Lena; sisters Evelyn Campbell, Marian Piatz and Lillian Franchuk.Don will be remembered for his generous heart, kind soul, and contagious laugh.In lieu of flowers, Don asks for memorials to be made to Sandra J. Schulze American Cancer Society Hope Lodge 411 Second Street NW Rochester, MN 55901 Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
