Michael Williams

Michael Patrick Williams, 56, Grand Forks, ND, died Wednesday, August 03, 2016 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Michael was born the only blue eyed child of Frank Erwin Williams and Mary Elizabeth (Logan) Williams on June 19, 1960 in Glendive, Montana.  He was raised and educated in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1978.  He attended college at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas.  Mike was married to Marcie Vervalen in 1982 in Grand Forks.  He worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company, White Seals Company, and Rydell Auto. Mike was married to Ilene Evanson in 1990 in Grand Forks and was happy to be a Step-father to Amber Plunknett and Heidi Small. An amazingly talented singer and guitarist, Mike would always happily share his considerable gift with whomever was lucky enough to share it with him. He shared his gift with so many people! Mike entertained people at nursing homes, in the hospital, and with every visitor who came to see him.  People liked Mike as he was so easy to like. He would often go out of his way to help others, just to be a good friend. Mike also wrote many songs, playing his many instruments and recording his compositions, and enjoyed working on his computers. He also took care of Mom’s dog Daisy, after Mom passed away in September. Mike was a character, and what a character! He always had a smile on his face and always seemed to have a new joke to tell. His easy-going and accepting nature made him a joy to be around.  He was a favorite Uncle and Great Uncle to all of the children in the family.  He loved to tease and make up songs and little drawings to make people happy. Mike was a loving brother, a thoughtful and generous friend, and kind hearted.  We will miss our brother more than words can say. We are all thankful for knowing him, and for his time on earth.                     The heavenly choir just gained a beautiful voice and a great guitar player. Survivors include: Stepdaughters Amber Plunknett and Heidi Small, Brothers: Tim Williams(Jodi), Dan Williams (Karen), Tom Williams (Angela), Ralph Williams (Carmen), John Williams (Kris) Sisters: Carolyn Wijnholds (Heiko), Kathryn Williams, Maria Kennedy (Colin) Nieces and Nephews: Anne Bartley (Tad), Janine Perotti (Tony), Matt Williams, Liz Campbell (Charlie), Reah Tykwinski (Bryan), Danessa Williams, Scott Williams (Naomi), Ben Williams (Ashley), Renae Smith (Jeremy), Tim Williams, Shannon Lauderbaugh (Phil), Erin Williams, Emily Williams, Tim Bohlman, Laura Spicer (Mike), Lindsey Williams (Dennis), Travis Williams, Maura Ferguson (John), Tess Williams, and Tru Williams 26 Great Nieces & Nephews And special friend Lisa Fischer and her daughters Gabrielle, Hannah, and Madeline Fischer. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father. Visitation will be for the hour before the Funeral Mass in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery of Fisher, MN.
