Henning J. Stendahl

Henning J. Stendahl, 85, of Grand Forks, ND, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 3, 2016 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN. Henning was born on November 21, 1930 to John and Inga (Gunderson) Stendahl, in Northwood, ND. He attended school in the Northwood area until the Stendahl family relocated to the Whitman and Michigan, North Dakota area. He graduated from high school in Michigan, ND in 1950. Henning moved to Grand Forks and found employment with Eddy’s Bakery.  He started on the loading dock and worked his way through the various positions. After 40 years in the bread business, he retired and resided at his home in Grand Forks. He also enjoyed having a lake vacation cabin in the Park Rapids, MN area for many years.      Henning is survived by his brother-Paul (Barbara) Stendahl; niece-Nancy (Harry) Lindberg; nephew-Mike (Shelly) Stendahl, four great nephews-Thomas and Andrew Lindberg, Jacob and Abel Stendahl.      He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-Alvern Bjerke, and niece-Marilyn Bjerke.  His special friend, Verna Sevre, also preceded him in death.  He will be inurned at the Memorial Park South Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation to be held one hour before the service at the Amundson Funeral Home at 2975 S. 42nd Street, Grand Forks, ND.
