Richard Clayton Loing, 87, Reynolds, passed away August 31, 2016. Richard was born on May 21, 1929 to Carl and Lilly Loing at the Loing Farm near Reynolds, ND. He was living on this same farm at the time of his death. He attended country school in Bentru Township through 8th grade. In 1966 he married Mary (Syverson) Vind in Crookston, MN. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 9, 2016. Richard was a farmer all of his life. He retired from farming in 1994. Richard loved his hobbies of woodworking, carpentry and gardening. His skills of farming carried over to the bountiful harvest of his garden every year. He enjoyed sharing this bounty with neighbors and friends as much as he enjoyed tending the garden. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Leonard, Vernon, Ole, Pat, Willard; his sisters Eleanor Verosky, Frances Josephson; daughter Connie Lynn; granddaughter Angela Rothe. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Jim (Audrey) Vind, Ruth Waller, Nancy (Doug) Rothe, Janet (Randy) Hanson, Randy Loing; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer (Lance) Ekern, Kevin Waller, Elizabeth (Paulo) Malater, Sarah (Roland) Courtemanche, Dustin Rothe, Melissa Rothe, Josh Rothe, Jacob Loing, Jared Loing; 2 great grandchildren, Abby Courtemanche, Ethan Courtemanche; sister, Corrine (Colin) Hatton; sisters-in-law, Helen (Ole) Loing, Eleanor (Vernon) Loing, Marsha (Pat) Loing. There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 2 at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, with a prayer service at 8:00 PM. The funeral will be at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Thompson, ND on Saturday, September 3 at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be served, followed by interment at Rosendal Lutheran Cemetery, rural Reynolds. Family requests memorials be given to Rosendal Cemetery Association or St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
