Thea Emelia (Larson) Howe, previous longtime resident of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the age of 99 at Eagan Point Senior Living in Eagan, MN. Thea, the daughter of Thor and Engeborg (Nereson) Larson was born July 16, 1917. She grew up on the family farm at Oklee, Minnesota, one of a family of 9 children. She attended rural schools at Oklee. She married John Howe on April 17, 1955 at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. They made their home in Grand Forks. Thea and John had two daughters, Sandra and Bonnie. Thea is survived by her children, Sandra (Patrick) Halligan of Eagan, MN, and Bonnie Howe of Farmington, MN; grandchildren, Colleen (Josh) Halligan-Martin of St. Michael, MN and Kevin (April) Halligan of Plymouth, MN; sister, Bertine Swanson, of Thief River Falls, MN; several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers, Lars, Tarjee, Henry and Elmer; sisters, Mabel Moe, Clara Wardner, and Hilda Linder. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her loving presence will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church.
