David John Kellenbenz

David “Dave” J. Kellenbenz, 42, of Gilby, formerly of Grand Forks, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Altru Hospital after a long courageous battle with Melanoma. Dave was born January 23, 1974, in Rhinebeck, NY, the son of Kenneth & Lorraine (Caragine) Kellenbenz.  He grew up in Germantown, NY, where he graduated from Germantown Central School in 1992.  He received his degree in Meteorology from Lydon State in Vermont in 1997. He married Karrie Ann Torgerson Sept. 23, 2000, in Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.   Together they had one child, Dawson. Dave worked as a Meteorologist for the National Weather Service for 20 years. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed whitetail deer hunting with a bow. Dave is survived by his wife, Karrie; son, Dawson; parents, Kenneth & Lorraine; brother, Kenneth (Tammi) Kellenbenz; sister, Kristen (Trevor) Speenburgh; nieces & nephews, Daniel, Andrew, Makenzie, Katie, Sophia & Trygve and several aunts, uncles, & cousins; grandmother, Fannie Caragine. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Carmine Caragine & grandparents, Ursula & Walter Kellenbenz. **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and will be given to the Jack & Jill Foundation. Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks Visitation will be from 12:00p.m – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks.
