Mae F. "Mitzi" Puppe, 63, formerly of Grand Forks, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at her home on Leech Lake, Minnesota, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. Mae Florence Richards, the daughter of Robert Richards and Delores Harroun was born May 11, 1953 at Buffalo, New York. She graduated from Eden High School in Buffalo, New York. Mae completed her Licensed Practical Nurses training in Santa Monica, California. Mae married James Puppe on August 24, 1975 at Newberry Park, California where they lived for a short time prior to moving to Grand Forks in 1976. She employed as a nurse at United Hospital, and the Rehabilitation Hospital. She later became a Registered Nurse and continued her nursing career at Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center from which she retired. She loved flowers, animals, attending her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed the change in seasons and decorating her home for holidays and cooking for her family. She is survived by: her husband, James, Leech Lake, MN; two sons, Tim (Jackie) Puppe, Rochester, and Shaun (Amy) Puppe, Grand Forks; 3 grandchildren, Brayden, Ashlynn, and Riley; step-mother, Alice; step-sisters, Laura, Kim, and Tracy. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Rick. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Amundson Funeral Home,2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
