Thelmer A. “Tam” Kvasager, 86, Grand Forks, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Thelmer Arthur Kvasager, the son of Knute and Olga (Andersen) Kvasager was born in Grand Forks on January 17, 1930. He attended Rye #25 School in Ferry Township of Grand Forks County. Thelmer served in the US Army during the Korean War. On August 14, 1954 he married Marlene Ann Wilsie. He was a member of the Teamsters Truck Drivers Union, driving truck locally for Midwest Motor Express for over 40 years. Thelmer was a fan of country music and liked to play the guitar. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but above all he loved time spent with his family. Thelmer is survived by his children, Lon (Linda) Kvasager, Grand Forks, Laurie (Jim) Sheppard, Necedah, WI, Bill (Jill) Kvasager, Grand Forks, Bob (Kim) Kvasager, Manvel, ND; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Arvin (Iola) Kvasager, Grand Forks; Clayton (Bernice) Kvasager, Ardoch, ND; Lois Cariveau, East Grand Forks, MN, and Janet Torgerson, Grand Forks; many nieces and nephews. Thelmer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marlene; brothers, Ole and Elmer; a sister, Theona “Toni” Geatz; two sisters Annie and Betty, who died in infancy; special friend, Donna Walstad. Memorial Services with military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in church. Inurnment will be in East Walle Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Thompson. The family prefers memorials be designated to Altru Hospice or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
