Vernon (Vern) Lilke 88 of Grand Forks passed away Friday, November 25 2016 at Altru Hospital. Vern was born May 4, 1928, the son of John and May (Hall) Lilke in Bathgate, ND where he grew up and attended schools. Vern married June Kath on October 28, 1949. They were married 67 years. They shared a love for their dogs and spoiled many over the years. Together they made their home in Seattle, Grafton, and living the last 60 years of their life in Grand Forks. Vern owned Lilke Plumbing & Construction with his son Mylo. He also owned and operated Lilke Sanding in his retirement. Vern was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He enjoyed many years with family and friends at their lake home at Island Lake. He was always looking for and working on numerous projects at the lake cabin, family home, and hobby shop. Vern and his family enjoyed fishing at their cabin on Island Lake. Vern is survived by his wife, June; sons Alan (Joan) Lilke of Grand Forks, Ray (Sharon) Lilke of Big Lake, MN, Mylo (Sharon) Lilke of Grand Forks; daughter Lana Lilke of Grand Forks; 6 grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 6 sisters. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M Friday, December 2, 2016 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd Street, Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home. INTERMENT: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
