Frederick "Rick" James Ettl

Frederick “Rick” James Ettl, 70, of Grand Forks passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at his home in Grand Forks. Rick was born Oct. 31, 1946 in Grand Forks, ND.  He graduated from GF Central.  He retired after a long career with the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a loving father to his son, Michael, and devoted to his mother, Lorraine.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many local friends. Rick was an avid reader and sports fan.  He played organized baseball when he was younger and liked watching UND Fighting Sioux Hockey, baseball (especially the New York Yankees) and other sports.   He also enjoyed being with friends. Rick is survived by a son, Michael (Hannah) Ettl of Bemidji; mother, Lorraine Ettl; siblings, Linda Waring, Paul Ettl (Imelda); Christine Ettl (Gary Mlynek); grandchildren, Cody & Griffen; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Ettl.  CELEBRATION OF LIFE MEMORIAL PRAYER SERVICE:  Monday, December 19, at 6:00 p.m. at Amundsons 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: 4:00-6:00 p.m. prior to the service at Amundson Funeral Home.
