Lois R. Weisser, 88, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Lois was born August 30, 1928 in Minot, ND, the daughter of Wesley and Goldie (Anderson) Josewski. She grew up in Maxbass, ND graduating from Maxbass High School in 1945. She was valedictorian of her class of four. She graduated from Minot State College in 1949. She was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma social sorority. Lois taught English in Carrington, ND High School 1949-53. During this time Wilbur and Lois met. On August 20, 1950 Lois and Wilbur Weisser were married in Maxbass, ND. They lived in Staples, MN and Dickinson, ND before settling in Grand Forks in 1957. Wilbur taught at the university until his retirement in 1987. Lois was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on the Fighting Sioux. Lois went peacefully knowing the Bison football team would not repeat as national champions. Lois loved Wesley Methodist Church and found much joy there. In 2004 Lois was presented the Jewel of a Woman Award, a prestigious award given for outstanding dedication and service Lois thoroughly enjoyed the years she resided at Parkwood Place. She took part in every aspect at Parkwood and was blessed with many special friendships. Lois is survived by her children, Steven (Margo) Weisser, Grand Forks and Paul (Linda) Weisser of Lacey, WA; sister, Phyllis Rauser of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Corey Weisser of KY, Duddy (Lindsay) Weisser of Grand Forks, Max (Carly) Weisser of Grand Forks, Amy (David) Wilkins of WA, Joseph (Krista) Weisser of WA, Matthew (Mara) Weisser of WA; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jackson, Charlie, Laiken, Peyton, Dylan, Madison, Cooper and Troy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service in the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND. Memorials are prefered to Wesley United Methodist Church in Grand Forks.
