Theresa Ann Christenson, 85, of Grand Forks, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Theresa was born April 24, 1931, in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Joseph & Irene Tehle. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950 and graduated from ND State College of Science in 1956. Theresa served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-54 and was honorably discharged. She spent 1 year at the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC and 2 years in Frankford, Germany. She married Charles Christenson on June 3, 1956, in Lowry, MN. Together they made their home in Grand Forks. Theresa worked as the secretary for 28 years for the ND Newspaper Assn. She was secretary of the year in 1977. She retired in 1987 as the Newspaper Assn. moved to Bismarck. Theresa loved to fish, sew, quilt and play different games. She enjoyed being in Buffalo Bay for 22 summers, spending 24 winters in Mesa, AZ. She was a member of the Lowry American Legion, East Grand Forks American Legion Auxiliary, East Grand Forks VFW Auxiliary, the Professional Secretaries International Assn and University Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Theresa is survived by her husband, Charles; siblings, Richard, Pat Crater, Betty (Ron) Raftevold, Don (Barb); sister-in-law, Irene Zabel and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Joann Haugen, Joseph, Mark and Butch. **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to University Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at University Lutheran Church 2122 University Ave. in Grand Forks. Visitation: the hour prior to the service at the church.
