Gerald "Jerry" Leo Miller

Gerald “Jerry” Leo Miller, 65, of Grand Forks, died Thursday, January 5, 2017, at his home in Grand Forks. Jerry was born November 12, 1951, the son of Bill & Dorothy (Kowalski) Miller in Grand Forks. He attended 13 years of Catholic school and graduated from St. James High School in 1969.  As a teen, he started working at Miller’s, his father’s grocery store. He attended college and played football at Santa Clara University in California. Jerry was employed by Red Lobster in Minneapolis and MCI in Phoenix. He returned to Grand Forks and worked at KCNN before starting employment at UND, advancing to Lead Operator for NDUS at UND’s data center. He was also a realtor with Greenberg Realty. Jerry was an avid UND Fighting Sioux and Notre Dame fan.  He was interested in reading history and biographies. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling, always trying new recipes. He was known and loved for his optimism, generosity, and incredible sense of humor. Being a Grandpa was his greatest joy. He is survived by Joanne Bergstedt; children and grandchildren; brother, Robert Miller; sister, Ann Sherwood; nephew, Peter Wogsland; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Sunshine Memorial Foundation, 4200 James Ray Drive, #101, Grand Forks, ND, 58202. VISITATION & MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2016, with service beginning at 3:00 PM, at the Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, ND. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 5:00 PM. Everyone is invited to join Jerry’s family after the service for a meal at the Knights of Columbus, 601 University Ave, Grand Forks, ND. INURNMENT: Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND, at a later date.
