Bennett M Olson

  Bennett M. “Ben” Olson, 63, Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, January 9, 2017 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.   Ben was born March 24, 1953 in Grand Forks, the only son of Clarence and Stella (Langager) Olson. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School in 1971. Ben married Diane Kvamme on June 7, 1974. She passed away on June 1, 2009.   Ben was known for his easy going, kind hearted personality. He worked his entire life in parts supplies. He began his career working for Wilson Brothers. He then worked for Woodward's, followed by the owning and operation of Ben's Auto Supply.  After which he worked for Valley Truck, Drummer’s Diesel and finally Forks Freightliner, while continuing his side business of servicing fire extinguishers.   Ben enjoyed racing, classic cars, his Harley Davidson motorcycle, time spent at Golden Lake, socializing with family and friends, attending his grandson's sporting events, and his companionship with his two dogs.   Survivors include his children, Corey (Katie) Olson, Kristy (Mark) Goodman, and Laura (Jeff) Dozhier, all of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Taylor, Shayanne, Garett, Ashley and Haley; his two beloved dogs, Jessie and James and grand dogs, Biggie and Roxie.   Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; and by his parents, Clarence and Stella.   Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 13, 2017 in Calvary Lutheran Church of Grand Forks, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
