Betty Prather

Betty Prather, 92, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks.  Betty Lee, the daughter of Richard and Bertha (Amundson) Lee was born on October 28, 1924 at Hatton, North Dakota.  She was raised and educated at Hatton, North Dakota and graduated from Hatton High School in 1942.  Betty married Berlin B. Prather on October 16, 1948 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.  Betty was employed in a number of local companies in sales and office work , to include, Tweet’s Grocery Store, Larson and Torgerson Drug Store, First National Bank, JC Penney, Pred’s Coats, Johnson Store, and Widmans.  Betty was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Senior Choir, the quilters, the Mission Links, Pioneers, and the Tabitha Circle.  She enjoyed Twins baseball, birdwatching, gardening and visiting.  Betty is survived by her children, Glen (Merry) Prather, and Loretta Prather, all of Grand Forks; 3 grandsons, 2 step-grandsons, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Berlin, a sister, Ruth Jakes, and brothers, Robert Lee and Warren Lee, and nieces, Bonnie Lee Merring and Shannon Lee.  Thank you to Dr. Joel Walz and the staff of Valley Eldercare Center, especially those who cared for her during her final days. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 in Augustana Lutheran Church, 520 University Ave., Grand Forks.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. with a 3:30 p.m. Prayer Service Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S 42nd St. Grand Forks and one hour prior to the service in the church.  Interment will be at a later date in St. John Cemetery, Hatton, North Dakota. Memorials are preferred to Augustana Lutheran Building/Roof Fund or Valley Eldercare Chaplaincy Fund.    Online guestbook is available at www.amundsonfuneralhome.com.
