Richard A. Hamilton, 73, Grand Forks, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Richard Arch Hamilton, the son of Lester and Velda Hamilton was born in Andrew, Iowa on October 8, 1943. Richard was raised on a farm in Iowa. He graduated from Andrew High School and then moved to California. He met his, then, wife of 20 years and had three children. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years. Following shortly after with employment in Civil Service and retired again after 20 years of service. He enjoyed playing the guitar and games of BINGO going on overnight trips to the casino and spending time with close friends and family. Richard is survived by his children, Rodney Wayne Hamilton (Kathy), Bismarck, ND, Wester Kent Hamilton (Jennifer), Duluth, MN, and Alia Dawn Just (James), Castiac, CA; grandchildren, Jarod, Jordan, John and James; a sister, Carol Ann Slaymaker (Sam), Marengo, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Neale. In recognition of his extended family, his significant other of 20 years, Drusilla “Dee” Keating and her children, Todd Winters (Brenda), Richard Brummond (Brenda), Scott Winters (Yvonne); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren from his extended family. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Augustana Lutheran Church, 520 University Ave., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be at a later date in Lansford Cemetery, Lansford, North Dakota.
