Caroline Mary Sobolik, 83, Grand Forks, joined the love of her life Curt, Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Caroline was born May 27, 1933 in Larimore, the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Rosenberg) Giese. She grew up and attended school in Larimore. In 1951, she married Curtis R. Sobolik. They lived in Larimore moving to Grand Forks in 1954 where they made their home. She worked at Bert’s Market, and then in 1967, she started working at Rehab Center as a housekeeper. Caroline worked there until her retirement in 1994, and then she continued to volunteer at the rehab until 1996. Caroline loved to do arts and crafts, especially drawing. She was an avid writer. She also loved to join her husband in going fishing, and camping. When Curtis was racing, she stayed in the beer garden under the grandstands cheering him on from a safe distance. They loved to ride snowmobiles joining the Prairie Rambler Snowmobile Club. She also loved cooking for people. She would have fish fries and invite all of their friends and family. Caroline loved all of her grandchildren. Caroline is survived by her children; Mark (Patty) Sobolik, Grand Forks, ND, Curti (Greg) Dvorak, Rapid City, SD, Steve Sobolik, Grand Forks, ND, siblings; Floyd (Retta) Giese, Bremerton, WA, Patty Shibsped, Vancouver, WA, Fred (Fran) Giese, Larimore, ND, Linda Hurtt, Grand Forks, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces ,nephews, brothers-in-laws, and sisters-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis, parents, mother and father-in-law Clarence and Thelka Sobolik, brother-in-law Verne Sobolik, and sister-in-law JoAnn Capps. Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to The American Cancer Society or The Kem Shrine Temple in Grand Forks.
