Miguel Celis

Miguel “Mike” A. Celis, 82, Grand Forks, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Valley Eldercare. Miguel was born on September 26, 1934 in Manila, Philippines to Juan and Segunda (Abrenica) Celis. He grew up and attended school in Manila. Later Mike went to work as a carpenter. In the 1970’s he served as a councilman in his village.  He traveled to Australia and Germany before coming to the United States in 2004 where he lived with the daughter Remie and her family. Mike loved to fish in the summer and travel around the county. He is survived by his children; Remie (Herbert Jr.) Cowan, East Grand Forks, Rosenda Dacayana, Philippines, Amy (Deiter) Backer, Adelaide, Australia, Corita (Nick) Martin, Adelaide, Australia, Dionisio (Cecile) Celis, Philippines, Cecille (Wilfred) Jestel, Bochum, Germany, Wilfred (Maricirs) Celis, Philippines, Marilyn (Herbert) Gardewin, Bochum, Germany, brother; Carlito Aberenica, Philippines, Herbert Conwan III, Jarold Minix, Hazel Dacayana, Michael Celis, Donah Celis, Kirklon Celis, Christian Celis, Angelica Cowan, Mariel Celis, Marco Jestel, Enrico Jestel, his great grandson Rayshawn, and many nieces and nephews. Miguel was preceded in death by his grandson Dennis. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
