Darlene G. Kovarik, 73, Grand Forks, ND, died Friday, February 10, 2017 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Darlene G. Pich was born May 6, 1943 in Portland, OR, the daughter of Albert and Albina (Maixner) Pich. She was raised and educated in Lankin, ND where she graduated as salutatorian of her high school class. Darlene moved to Grand Forks and married Lawrence Kovarik on April 8, 1964. They lived in Grand Forks where they raised their family. Darlene graduated from UND with a degree in English and Sociology. Darlene's professional career revolved around people with special needs. Darlene's true passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren; she kept an incredible flower/vegetable garden and she loved cooking and baking. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence, Grand Forks; children, Shelly (Jerry) Yohe, Joliet, IL, Sheri (Eric) Anderson, Grand Forks, and Jared (Stephanie) Kovarik, South St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Mitchell Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Ryan Yohe, Carter Kovarik, and Ava Kovarik. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charley and Lydia Kovarik; brothers-in-law, Kim Bylin and Jack Bina. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 13, 2017 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the funeral home.
