John I Weigel

John I.  Weigel, 43, Grand Forks passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, 2017. John Isaac Weigel, the son of John “Jack” and Edith (Shepard) Weigel, was born May 1, 1973 at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.  John lived his entire life in Grand Forks where attended school and pursued numerous volunteer and work positions. John loved to take trips to visit relatives in the winter and spend time at the family lake cabin at Lengby, MN in the summer.  John was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by an aunt, Sister Rachel Shepard; guardian and friend, Trudy Smith and her family; cousins, Mary, Jennifer, Paul and John McComb, and Julie and Gretchen Bickert;  and a host of friends. John will be sorely missed by many.  Let us remember that at long last he is reunited with his parents. Funeral Liturgy will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017  in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks.  Interment will be in Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to:  The Charity of Your Choice or Northeast Human Service Center, SMI Dept., 151 South 4th St., Suite 401, Grand Forks ND 58201.  Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks is in charge of arrangements.
