Luella G. Boyer, 86, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Luella Georgine Boyer was born on February 13, 1931, in Tuttle, ND, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Rosenau) Dockter. She grew up in Bismarck, ND. She married Clair N. Boyer on September 24, 1956. The couple initially made their home in Alaska, before moving to Grand Forks. Lu attended the University of North Dakota and earned a degree in elementary education. She taught at Ben Franklin Elementary School for 21 years before retiring. Lu and Clair enjoyed traveling the United States and spending time at their cabin at Island Lake. After Clair's death, Lu kept busy by volunteering at Sharon Lutheran Church, Altru Hospital, Grand Forks Senior Center and the Parent Education Resource Center. She continued to travel and went to many exotic locations, including Portugal, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean. Her favorite times though were spent at the cabin, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and other family and friends. Luella is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (David) Adams, Grand Forks, ND; daughter-in-law, Joan (Haen) Boyer of Green Bay WI; grandchildren, Chelsea Adams of Fargo, ND, Gina Adams of Brooklyn, NY, Kurtis (Liz) Lemar of Casselton, ND, Neil (Briana) Boyer of Grand Forks ND, Joseph Boyer of East Grand Forks, MN; great-grandchildren, Mason Lemar, Dominic Boyer, Claire Boyer; sisters, Iris Hilzendeger and LaVonne Emery of Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clair; son, Christopher; sister, Linda Fowler and brother, Curly Dockter. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT: At a later date, Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
