Margaret R. Tweten, 88, Grand Forks, ND, died Friday, March 10, 2017 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Margaret Ruth Lewis was born April 2, 1928 in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of William and Margaret (Sigurdson) Lewis. She came to Grand Forks as an infant. Margaret graduated from Central High School. Margaret married Earl Bushaw. They later divorced. In 1952, she married Selmer Tweten in Thief River Falls, MN. She spent the next number of years raising her family in Grand Forks. At the age of 50, she graduated from Aaker’s Business College. She was employed by Hoffert Motors of East Grand Forks, and later for the Valley Thrift Store. Margaret enjoyed a good book, playing cards, Bingo, Casinos and being with friends. Survivors include her children Patrick Bushaw, Melissa MacArthur, Karl Bushaw, Carol (Delmer) Smaaladen, Selmer “Sam” Tweten, Jr., Paul Tweten, and Denise Tweten; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Irene Gray, Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Selmer; son, Mark Tweten; and two brothers, William Lewis and Franklin Lewis. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks.
