Gary Nupdal

  Gary D. Nupdal, 63, Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 in his home. Gary was born January 31, 1954 in Grand Forks, the son of Thorarrin and Frieda (Stark) Nupdal. He was raised in St. Thomas, ND and graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1972. He attended NDSU before going to UND where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. He began working in the art department at UND while earning his Master’s degree. Gary was a talented artist who worked for many years as an art instructor at UND. He also worked in construction and built numerous houses, garages and decks. Gary was an avid softball player. He loved fishing and daily crossword puzzles. Survivors include his siblings, Carol (Mike) Kliniske, Grafton, ND, Gailene (Larry) Hueske, Dickinson, ND and Rod (Kristi) Nupdal, Grand Forks; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home.
