Anita Larson

Anita M. Larson, 95, of Fargo, ND and formerly Grand Forks, ND passed away, March 16, 2017. Anita Mae Peterson was born July 17, 1921 in Roome Township, rural Eldred, MN the daughter of Anton and Carolena (Anderson) Peterson.  She attended Eldred Consolidated School through 10th grade, graduating from Crookston Central High School in 1939.  A year later she graduated from Northern Business College, Bemidji, MN and was employed with the Clearwater County Welfare Office, Bagley, MN.  During WWII she was employed as a stenographer at Lockheed Aircraft, Burbank CA before moving to Grand Forks, ND where she was employed as a secretary for AGSCO Farm Supply.  She later worked for the Grand Forks Public School System at Valley Junior High School from 1959 till retiring in 1976.   She married Clarence M. Larson, April 8, 1947 at First English Lutheran Church, Eldred, MN.  They raised their 2 children, Dennis and Carol, in Grand Forks, where they resided for their entire 62 years of marriage before Clarence's death in October 2009.  Anita was then a resident of Parkwood Place, Grand Forks for 3 years before moving to Edgewood Vista in Fargo, ND in September 2012 to be near family.  We thank the staff of Edgewood Vista and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their loving care the last 8 months of Anita's life. Anita was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND for nearly 60 years, where she was active in the Priscilla Circle, work groups, and assembling Calvary Calling.  She was a long time member of the Valley Memorial Club, the Grand Forks Republican Women and a charter member of the Fargo Air Museum.  She is survived by her son Dennis (Kay) Larson, Fargo, ND, daughter Carol Campbell (Jon), rural Aneta, ND, four grandchildren, Merritt Larson (Charles Marty), Fargo, ND, Carrie Campbell Williams ( fiancée Andrew Green), Lithia, FL, Alex (Christina) Campbell, Plymouth, MN, Mallory (Sean) Dillon, Minneapolis, MN and five great grandchildren, Julia and Benjamin Williams, Colin, Caleb, and Kaleigh Campbell, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, parents, brothers George, Clarence, S. Wilbur, Albert, Harold: sister Mildred Odegaard and brother-in-law Trygve Odegaard and sister-in law Alma Peterson. Memorials may be designated to Calvary Lutheran music programs or Hospice of the Red River Valley, 1701 38th ST S, Fargo, ND 58104. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, March 24, 2017,  followed by a light lunch at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S 9th St, Grand Forks, ND.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church.  Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery.
