  Nels G. Loiland, 90, Grand Forks, ND, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 In Valley Memorial Home Eldercare, Grand Forks, ND. Nels Glenn Loiland was born February 20, 1927 in Grand Forks, the son of Ole and Thora (Tharaldson) Loiland. He was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. He served with the U. S. Army during WWII, then returned to Grand Forks and attended Aaker’s Business College. Nels married Carol Mickels on August 17, 1952 in Grand Forks. They lived in Minot, ND where Nels worked at a bank. They later returned to Grand Forks and Nels worked for many years at Valley Bank, retiring as Vice President. Survivors include his wife, Carol Loiland, Grand Forks; brother, John (Linda) Loiland, Fosston, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy and a sister, Kathleen. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Monday, March 27, 2017 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Center Lutheran Cemetery near McVille, ND.
