Glen Elwood Everson, 89, of Douglas and Sierra Vista, Arizona, passed away peacefully on March 25 at Haven of Douglas, a skilled nursing facility where he had been a patient since May of 2016. Glen had previously lived in Grand Forks, ND, from birth until his retirement in 1992. Glen was born March 10, 1928, in Grand Forks to Rudolph A. and Ruby W. Everson. He graduated from Central High School in 1946 and served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948. He worked for Red Owl Stores, owned RCA Paint and Body Supply, and later worked for Grand Forks Glass and Paint and Catholic Community Services. He married Lorraine M. Hellekson on July 25, 1954. Lorraine sadly passed away on November 28, 1964. Glen later went on to marry Beverly Torkelson on June 10, 1967. He was preceded in death by his brother George, his wife Lorraine, his parents Rudy and Ruby, and his sister Ardis Saude. He is survived by his children Mark (Connie Wixo) Everson, Kim (Steve) Keller, Linda (Danny Boggs) Everson, Karen (Mitch) Lindemann, and Robert (Heather) Everson; grandchildren Joseph (Angela) Bolonchuk, Michael Bolonchuk, Jessica (Magic) Terrell, Paige Everson, Christopher Everson, Alexis Everson, Emily Lindemann, Erica Lindemann, Lacey Boggs, and Elisa Lindemann, as well as several great grandchildren. Glen was a happy, caring, compassionate, loving and supportive father, grandfather and friend. His sense of humor and smile was enjoyed and noticed by all. While at Haven of Douglas he always had a joke and a twinkle in his eye, yet we were told he was always a gentleman. These were the qualities we knew of everyday as family, and his Haven family grew to know that too. He loved spending time with family, friends and grandchildren enjoying board games, sports and just visiting and people watching. He enjoyed his phone calls with Mark and Bob, and loved talking about Sioux hockey and any UND sport as well as home repairs or remodeling. He was so happy he was able to go to Grand Forks for Mark’s marriage to Connie in 2008; he thought it was great to see them together and he mentioned it often. Even after “retiring” and moving to Arizona in 1992, he worked part-time in sales and most recently for the Catholic Community Center Senior Center for Meals, where he continued to volunteer after his second “retirement” right up until April 25, 2016. You will be greatly missed and we love you. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2017 in United Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church.
