After a fearless ten-year fight with cancer, Randy C. Danner, 60, Edina, MN passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 in her home, surrounded by her four daughters and her brother Mel. Randy was born August 22, 1956 in Grand Forks, ND to Jean (Knudson) and Charles Danner. She was the third oldest of five children and graduated high school from Gilby, ND in 1974. Randy lived in a variety of places throughout her life, but always considered Grand Forks, North Dakota home. Randy had many talents. She was blessed with a beautiful artistic gift and in her idle time she often could be found crafting decorative pillows, quilting blankets, crocheting, knitting, painting, and creating custom greeting cards. Even her holiday gifts were perfectly wrapped pieces of art. Not only was Randy talented in craft, but also in the kitchen. It didn’t matter if she was making lefsa, red hotdish, holiday cookies, desserts or special gluten free goodies –it was always carefully and creatively made with love. Once diagnosed with cancer, Randy never gave up. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future. In fact, many had no idea Randy had cancer at all. She continued to go to work every day as a supervisor at Minnesota Epilepsy Group dedicating her days to helping others. Randy made a decision to live life to the fullest, making the most of the time she had with her family and friends. If she wasn’t at work, on a weekend getaway with friends, or at a family gathering, she could be found cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events. Randy was known for her strong personality, kind heart, witty sense of humor and always putting everyone else’s needs above her own. She will be missed by all that knew her and she lives on in the hearts of all she touched. Randy is survived by her children Cassidy, Danielle, Shyla, Dakotah, her mother Jean, brother Mel, sisters Carla and Kristi. She is further survived by many grandchildren, niece, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Charles Danner, maternal and paternal grandparents, and her brother Max Danner. Randy’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 8 2017 at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, ND with visitation starting at 2 PM and a service at 3 PM. A private burial attended by immediate family members will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to GIST Cancer Research Fund www.gistsupport.org
