Ronald H. “Ron” Sandlie, 74, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at home. Ron lost his battle with cancer, but he won the crown of life. Absent from the body and present with The Lord. Ronald Howard Sandlie, the son of Lyle and Cora (Tiedeman) Sandlie of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, was born September 14, 1942 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in East Grand Forks and graduated from East Grand Forks Central High School. Ron attended UND and graduated with a degree in social work. Ron married Deanna Ward on May 29, 1964 in East Grand Forks. They lived and raised their two daughters in Grand Forks. Ronald was employed by the Grafton Development Center, Vocational Rehab, and the Northeast Human Service Center, until he retired on November 1, 2004. Ron was a history buff and enjoyed reading. He also loved watching ships, the ocean, and biblical archeology. Most of all Ron was deeply involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren and was a constant presence at their activities. Ron is survived by his wife, Deanna, Grand Forks; daughters, Trina Sandlie (Kelly Fisher) and their son, Jesse Fisher, Circle Pines, MN, and Traci (Kent) Van Beek and their children, Kaitlyn, and Blake of East Grand Forks, MN; several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert, Gerald, and Gordon. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 1400 24th Ave South, Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church.
