Bonnita L. “Bonnie” Michaelson, 73, of Grand Forks, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Bonnita L. Flach was born April 25, 1943, in Portland, OR, to Clarence J. Flach & Grayce E. (Harshman) Flach. She was raised in Valley City, ND, where she attended St. Catherine’s elementary and high school, graduating in 1961. She attended the University of North Dakota earning a BA in Psychology in 1965 and a MA in Psychology in 1973. Bonnie married Douglas G. Michaelson on September 7, 1968 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City. Doug died Feb. 8, 2006. She was employed as a psychologist at the Upper Red River Valley Educational Service Center from 1967-1970. She was employed as a psychologist at the UND Medical Center Rehabilitation Hospital (later the Altru Rehab) from Sept. 1970 until her retirement in May of 2007. Bonnie was a member of the National Honor Society in High School and was Co-Salutatorian. She also volunteered with Altru Hospice and Grand Forks Food Pantry. Bonnie is survived by her sister, Janice (Barry) Koepke; sister-in-law, Debra Flach; niece, Jennifer Bartlett; grand-niece, Emma Bartlett. Memorial Service: Tuesday, April 18 at 12 p.m. at the Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St in Grand Forks. Visitation: One hour prior to the service. Inurnment: Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
