Lillian Mitz

Lillian Theodora (Visness) Mitz, 95, Grand Forks, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks where she was a resident since December, 2016.  Lillian was born April 10, 1921 to Theodore and Eline (Lyngstad) Visness.  She grew up on a farm and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1938.  On October 14, 1940 she married Herbert A. Mitz.  They resided in Drayton, ND, where they raised three children;  Linda Webb, Fargo, ND, Sharon Johnson (Stu), East Grand Forks, MN, and Bruce (Elizabeth) Mitz, Minot, ND.  Lillian loved her flower gardens and working outdoors as well as almost every kind of handiwork although sewing, quilting, and crocheting were her favorites.  Lillian is survived by her 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Kenneth and Stanley.  Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on  Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Drayton Lutheran Church, Drayton, North Dakota with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.  Inurnment will be in Drayton Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to Drayton Lutheran Church or Drayton Cemetery.
