Roy James Brown (Nibs), 82, of Grand Forks passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5th, 2017 surrounded by family at Bethany Retirement Homes in Fargo. Roy was born July 20th, 1934 at St. Michael’s hospital in Grand Forks, N.D. He was the son of Roy Sr. and Ester Ruvia (Herman) Brown. He graduated from Manvel High School. Roy married Rosemary Korynta on May 12th, 1959 at the Ardoch Catholic Church. Sadly Rosemary passed away October 23, 2016. Roy and Rose raised their two boys Randy and Robert in Manvel N.D. Roy served in the Korean War as an Airforce Crew Chief aboard the Air Rescue Helicopter. He managed the Legion in Manvel and then worked for the Department of Energy at the University of North Dakota. Roy helped Randy manage and maintain his apartment buildings for years after retiring. Roy was Randy and Robert’s best friend. He taught his boys how to get their hands dirty and fix just about anything. Roy loved to go fishing with family and especially enjoyed his Lake of the Woods trips. Nibs was known for his quick one liners, extraordinary energy, unique character, extreme generosity and genuine love for his family and friends. His grandchildren and great-granddaughters brought an extra sparkle to his eye and joy to his life. Thank you for the loving care by the CNA’s, Nurses and all who helped Roy at the VA Hospital and Bethany Homes. Heaven definitely gained another angel. It gives our family great peace to know our parents are together again. Roy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; an infant son, Richard; his beloved daughter-in-law, Diane and his loving wife Rosemary. He is survived by his sons; Randy (Jodi) Brown, Robert (Jill) Brown; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Pat Thompson) and Colin; great-grandchildren, Ivy Rose and Diana Ann; his sister, Kathy Danks and his twin sister, Joanne Demars. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Manvel, ND. Visitation: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a 7pm prayer service on Thursday, May 11 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S 42nd St. in Grand Forks. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the mass in the church. Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
